Today I made a no-sew pillow with fabric I purchased from Ikea. I keep seeing funky pillows on Pinterest that people have made so I decided to go for it...
Here's how:
 |
| Step 1: Cut two pieces of fabric. I suggest leaving 3/4 inch of extra fabric around the border. You can also use the old pillow case as a pattern. |
 |
| Step 2: Place one piece of fabric pattern face up. Line the border with Stitch Witchery (I purchased a roll from Walmart). Leave an opening on one end. Place the second piece of fabric face down. |
 |
Step 3: Set your iron to high heat steam. Place a damp cloth over the Stitch Witchery. Hold the iron on a section for 15-20 seconds. Repeat until you've ironed the entire border. You should have one opening. **Please be careful with this step. The cloth becomes extremely hot** |
 |
| Ste 4: Once the fabric has cooled down, turn the pillow case right side out. Stuff the pillow insert or batting into the opening. |
 |
| Step 5: Using straight pins, fold over the edges of the opening and pin in small strips of Stitch Witchery . Iron with the damp cloth. After the fabric has cooled, remove the pins. |
 |
| And there you have it, an easy way to update a pillow! |

Hi Elyse....LOVE how you did these pillows without sewing. Now thats my type of project. I sewed for many years but not much any more. Am going to try this. GREAT idea.
Thanks for coming to my blog and making a comment on the Macaroon book. That was so thoughtful of you and I do appreciate it. I have only been blogging for about 6 weeks longer than you so we are pretty much both newbies. But I love it. You have a delightful blog! And I am now following you!. Looking forward to many more wonderful posts.
Hugs,
Nann
I don't sew...great tutorial...they look terrific!!! So happy to see how to do this without sewing, Thanks so much!
There is no Ikea near me, but after seeing all the great things everyone on blogland makes with their products, I wish we had one. That fabric is pretty, and I am sure many people who don't know how to sew can use your tutorial! I use Stitch Witchery to hem pants all the time, even though I do know how to sew. Great stuff, isn't it? Thank you for sharing your project at my party.
So pretty!
Very nice - easy way to update the look of a pillow!
Thanks for sharing at my party - I am glad you came by!

Thanks for coming to this week's Your Cozy Home Party. Hope you will come next week, too. Since you are a newbie I will gently remind you that each weeks item is supposed to be a new post. That way we get to see fresh new ideas each week. Not to worry this time, it's fine. Hope you are having a good week.----------- Shannon
So sorry Shannon. I read that specific rule and either thought I didn't link this one last week or I meant to link it elsewhere. I was working on several parties at once. Thanks for the reminder.
Those look great! I need to get some of that hem tape since I don't have a sewing machine but there's tons of pillows and such I want to make.
