Potential Sofa

Thoughts on this sofa?? I'm not too big on Ikea furniture but I am quite fond off this particular piece. The floral slipcover is on clearance at the store, which makes it even more affordable. In person the flowers are a little more pink and there are some nice gray and blue accents. Is it too early 90's??

I see you are a new blogger and I thought I'd say hi! As for the sofa...I think it is very pretty. I will tell you that I learned a lesson (at least for me) a few years ago when we bought the house we are now in. I bought a floral sofa and loveseat in cream with dark red flowers, some greens etc. It was very "cottage" looking and the tables were all distressed creamy white. I got tired of the pattern very quickly. I couldn't change the pillows unless I used solid colors, I couldn't decorate for Christmas with any colors that weren't in the sofas without clashing and somehow for me, the busy pattern stressed me out. They now live in the basement family room and I have espresso leather in the living room. I can use whatever accent colors I feel like. That is just my experience. I love the florals, but I just can't live with them!

Very useful feedback! This is exactly why I posted the picture. Luckily, this is a slip cover and I could change in it a couple of years...however, I see where you are coming from with Christmas. Maybe I would be better off with a light tan sofa and purchasing the chair in the floral print. So much to think about!

Thank you so much for stopping by to see me. It means so much!

New reader. :) Just my thought... I've seen that exact sofa in the store and I have to say, the pictures don't do it justice. It's MUCH prettier in person. However, I have to agree with Sue. Busy patterns like that can get old - quick. BUT since it's a slipcover, I say go for it! It's not permanent and you can change it any time. Can't wait to see what you decide!

Thanks Meghan for reading! I may just do a light tan slip cover and purchase the floral print chair. But then again, it's a slipcover so why not just go for it! Decisions. Decisions. {sigh}

I have had that sofa for almost five years now; I buy other slipcovers to use with it and still find that the original one (as shown above) is my favorite!

I like your thinking! I was annoyed when I discovered that the slipcover is full price on-line. In the store it is on big time clearance. I may have another road trip in my near future! Question for you, when you wash your slipcovers, do they hold up well and fit the same??
Thanks!
