When I was in France, I fell in love with their baguette paninis!
Why had I never thought to use a baguette for a panini??
I dined on this lovely panini at Versailles.
It was simply a baguette, brie cheese, ground hazelnuts and greens.
Perfection.
The key to making French Paninis is to buy baguettes that are not fully baked.
You can find take-and-bakes at most grocery stores. I know for sure that Target has them.
Fully baked baguettes will be rock hard after they are heated in the press.
Don't have panini press?
Try a George Forman Grill.
You can see here how fresh and slightly under-baked the baguettes are.
My last French Panini...
I love how they are served piping hot in a brown bag.
Such a perfect lunch to enjoy while sight seeing in Paris.
Most of the baguettes were filled with different types off fromage (cheese),
tomatoes and meat.
I've made many other variations at home...
-Goat cheese, arugula and sliced beats
-Pub cheese, turkey, bacon
-Mushroom brie and greens
-Ham and swiss
Buy a take-and-bake baguette and fire up your press!!
bon appetit

Delish! Paris must have been so amazing!! Have a great week. ~ Jamie
I absolutely love paninis, we have quite a few cafes here that serve them for lunch - they must be toasted so the cheese melts and they are all warm inside mmmm. I also make them at home on my george forman grill (well until it broke!) my favourite filling is ham, cheese, tomatoe :)
SUPER smart idea!!

Looks crusty and delicious!
OMG, this is so français;-)
Yummy! My trick for cheating on the panini front: if your baguette is too crispy, slightly coat it with water (with wet hands to avoid getting them too soft), and then bake it. I do this all the time if I have leftover baguette from the day before.
Oh my gosh, these look so delicious! Thanks for the tip on using the underbaked baguettes. I've always wondered how to use baguettes for sandwiches because they are hard after baking. So yummy!
